Watch Dr Max as he removes one of the biggest splinters we've ever seen from a horse. Horses seem to injure themselves in a myriad of ways. This injury is a simple horse vs fence wound. This splinter was removed under local anaesthetic and sedation. The wound was cleaned to ensure there were no pieces of wood left behind and the horse made a full recovery. If your horse sustains an injury like this, please contact your veterinarian. Do not attempt to remove them on your own.

Watch a colic surgery performed by Dr Max Hall a specialist horse surgeon at West Coast Vets in Perth Australia. This particular horse had colic as a result of inadvertently eating sand. The large intestine was heavily impacted with sand and was causing pain and preventing the passage of intestinal contents. The treatment of colic surgically (if done early enough) is very successful. The horse in this video made a full recovery.
